Course Description:

(1.5 hours lecture-demonstration + 3 hours studio time)

Software Design-Patterns and communication protocols. Scene- and DSP management.

Software (available at IMWI):

  • Max 7
  • Third-party externals

Materials:

Students will get a temporary Cycling 74’s Max7 license. Readings from various sources will be assigned during the term and can be found either on the course webpage or on the Ilias server. No textbook is required.

Evaluation:

  • Class Contribution: 15 %
  • Term Work: 40 %
  • Theory Examination: 20 %
  • Final Project 25 %

Note: Class Contribution includes discussion of assignments, discussion of readings. Attendance is mandatory.

Term Work:

Term Work will consist of individual assignments, which might include programming exercises, short summaries of readings, analysis/discussion of artistic examples. Assignments will be explained during the lecture and are due midnight before the following class. Late assignments will not be considered.

Media:

This is a computer music course. The use of laptops in class is encouraged, however exclusively for class-related work (no browsing, social media, etc.)
