Carissa Klopoushak

La violoniste Carissa Klopoushak s’est attirée des éloges pour son incomparable maestria et sa présence charismatique et engageante sur scène.

Lauréate du 32e Concours annuel national de musique Eckhardt-Grammatté, Carissa vient de terminer une tournée de récitals qui marquent ses débuts à la grandeur du Canada avec le pianiste Philip Chiu.

Originaire de Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, elle a obtenu son B. Mus. à l’Université de la Saskatchewan où elle était l’élève de Philip Kashap. En quatrième année, Carissa a décroché le poste de second violon solo avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Saskatoon, poste qu’elle a occupé trois ans. Elle a été soliste vedette avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Saskatoon et le Prairie Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.

Maintenant établie à Montréal, Carissa est membre du Quatuor Schulich et du Trio Borromean, et joue fréquemment avec l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts, à Ottawa. Elle a récemment pris part au récital du New Music Marathon du Festival international de musique de chambre d'Ottawa.

Carissa a joué à plusieurs festivals de musique au Canada, notamment à Banff, à Orford, au Domaine Forget, au Festival de Lanaudière et au Scotia Festival of Music. Elle a fondé le tout nouveau Ritornello Chamber Music Festival de Saskatoon, dont elle est la directrice artistique.

Elle prépare un doctorat en interprétation option violon à l’École de musique Schulich de l’Université McGill, où elle est l’élève de Jonathan Crow.

Violinist Carissa Klopoushak has earned accolades for her sensitive and powerful musicianship and her charismatic and engaging stage presence.

Winner of the 32nd annual Eckhardt-Grammatté National Music Competition for the Performance of Canadian Music, Carissa recently completed a Canada-wide début recital tour with pianist Philip Chiu.

Originally from Saskatoon, SK, Carissa earned her B.Mus at the University of Saskatchewan studying with Philip Kashap. In her fourth year, Carissa won the position of Principal Second Violin with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, a position she held for three years. She has been featured soloist with both the SSO and the Prairie Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.

Now based in Montreal, Carissa is a member of the Schulich Quartet and the Trio Borromean, and performs frequently with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. She was recently featured in recital at the New Music Marathon of the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival.

Carissa has performed at several music festivals throughout Canada, including Banff, Orford, Le Domaine Forget, Festival de Lanaudiere and the Scotia Festival of Music. She is founder and an artistic director of the newly established Ritornello Chamber Music Festival in Saskatoon.

Carissa is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Violin Performance at McGill University's Schulich School of Music, a student of Jonathan Crow.
