En 2008-2009, la mezzo-soprano canadienne Catharin Carew a notamment incarné Mrs. Grose dans The Turn of the Screw (Le Tour d'écrou) de Britten avec le Aldeburgh Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, Mistress Quickly dans Falstaff de Verdi avec le Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, Alma March dans Little Women d’Adamo avec la Janiec Opera Company et Bradamante dans Alcina d’Haendel avec Opéra McGill. Celle qui a été décrite comme « une véritable personnalité avec un mezzo à la couleur dramatique et des aigus clairs » (WhatsOnStage, R.-U.) a aussi eu comme projets récents Ms. French Fry dans l’opéra pour enfants Get Stuffed with the Good Stuff avec Tapestry New Opera Works, ainsi que divers ateliers pour des compagnies comme Queen of Puddings Music Theatre, Tapestry New Opera Works et Native Earth Performing Arts. Elle a chanté comme soliste alto dans le Messie de Haendel au Studio Glenn Gould avec la Canadian Sinfonietta, et a été une des deux femmes dans une version mise en scène d’Exercices de style de Jose Evangelista à l’Amphithéâtre Richard Bradshaw du Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts avec Queen of Puddings Music Theatre.

Described as “a real personality with a dark edge to her mezzo as well as clear top notes." (WhatsOnStage, UK), other recent and on-going projects include Ms. French Fry in the children’s opera Get Stuffed with the Good Stuff with Tapestry New Opera Works, as well as various workshops for companies such as Queen of Puddings Music Theatre, Tapestry New Opera Works and Native Earth Performing Arts. She was alto soloist for Handel’s Messiah at the Glenn Gould Studio with the Canadian Sinfonietta, and one of two women in a staged version of Jose Evangelista’s Exercises de Style in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts with Queen of Puddings Music Theatre.

Highlights from previous seasons include premiering the role of Maeve in Sokolovic’s The Midnight Court at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (also with Queen of Puddings), and Miss Donnithorne in Maxwell-Davies’ one woman opera, Miss Donnithorne’s Maggot with Pazzia.
