« Counting Puzzle »

This is something we came across in Cognition, it relates to the "rule of 7 plus/minus 2", apparently people have trouble keeping track of counting certain things, only some people are able to focus well enough to do this task. Anyways, click READ THE RULES and then click on the pic below and see how well you are able to count. Don't scroll down to see the answer until you've watched the video though.
RULES:
There are two teams passing basketball back and forth, one team in white and one in black. Your task is to count the number of times a pass is completed between
the WHITE TEAM as they weave in and out of one another. Don't worry about the passes between people with black shirts. After you have finished, return here and scroll way down to figure out how you scored
( GENIUS / AVERAGE / POOR)

don't cheat... watch it before looking lower...

How Did You Score? ( don't look unless you've watched already )
  • poor: 4-6 passes
  • average: 7-10 passes
  • genius: 11-14 passes
  • truly observant: saw the gorilla. watch it again if you don't believe me.

Ahh... what would psychology be without cheap parlour tricks?

I remember this video from cognition 2 years ago... it blew my fucking mind.
