Journey FTP is a file transfer system written to assist travel agents who wish to transfer files to or from their own computers by means of FTP, Telnet or Windows File Sharing. It allows the travel agents to set their computers to automatically transfer many large files overnight so that they will be available the next day.
To connect, choose "Connect" from the "Connect" menu. The top drop down menu on the window that appears will allow you to quickly reconnect to sites that you have visited recently (you must reenter your user name and password). The fields are as follows:
The "Transfer Mode" drop-down menu will allow you to select which transfer protocol you wish to use. Simply leave this item on "Automatic" if you wish our program to make the appropriate decsion for you.
The "WFS Workgroup" and "WFS Share Name" fields need only be filled in when you are connecting using the Windows File Sharing Protocol. For example, to connect to pc114-19 you should use "CIS_INTRO" as the Workgroup and "temp" as the Share Name.
If you are already connected to a server and wish to disconnect and connect to a new server, simply follow the above procedure again.
This menu item is available on the "Connect" menu. It will set the local directory that appears on startup to the current local directory.
Press this button if you wish the list boxes to reflect any file manipulations that you have made.
These menus let you rename files, create new directories and delete files and directories from the local computer and the server respectively.
After you get connected, you need to choose one of the two transfer modes:
There are two list boxes where files are displayed, the local box on the left and the remote box on the right.
To receive files, select the files or directories in the remote box and then click on the arrow that points left.
To send files, select the files or directories in the local box and then click on the arrow that points right.
You may select multiple files by control or shift clicking.
All directories are displayed in the file lists on both remote and local systems by having their names enclosed
in square brackets - ie [dir].To navigate the directory structure one can either use the change directory button, or
use a double click on a directory in the list. To move up a directory you must use the Up Directory button. Directories
can be transferred, deleted and renamed on both the local and remote systems just like files.
While files are being transferred a window will appear on the screen, with two status bars. The first bar displays the
progress as a percentage of all the files to be transferred, and the second displays the progress as a percentage of the
current file being transferred (if only one file was selected both bars are the same).
After you click the "Queue Mode" radio button, a queueing window will pop up. To add files to the queue, select them using the list boxes and arrows in the first window. You may reconnect to other servers and add files to the queue if you wish. Click on the "Begin Transfers" button to begin downloading the items on the queue. The other buttons can be used to change the order in which files will be transferred and delete items from the queue.
