Multi-Dimensional HotMedia

Up to this point, the HotMedia objects we have looked at have been created from a linear set of elements. HotMedia allows for an object to be created with more than one of these sets. You can create multiple rows, each of which can contain different imagery.

It is required that the number of elements in each row be the same, but otherwise, there are no differences between what goes on the rows.

The assembling of a multi-row HotMedia is not much different from making a single row object. The difference is that after you select images for the object, you change the number of tracks in the animation options panel to something greater than 1.

You should be sure that the total number of images in the animation is divisible by the number of tracks (rows) or the assembly tool's treatment of your image selection may not be what you expect.

As an example, say you had pictures of an object rotated in two different positions, like this flat-screen monitor rotated tilted, and then rotated vertically like these:

After importing the the files, set tracks to '2' in the options screen. Often, it is also desirable to turn wrap tracks off so that mouse movements in the vertical direction 'stop' at the end of the actions.

Once this is done, the assembly tool should split the data up into two tracks:

And the result:

Two track HotMedia

Drag left and right to rotate.

Drag up and down to tilt.
