Free installers for the Arduino development environment are available for Windows, OS-X and Linux operating systems. While the IDE may already be installed on the MTKPL computers (in the /Applications/ directory), you will likely need to install a version on your Desktop to avoid permission issues.
The boards are preset to be powered from the USB port. Change the jumper on the pins between the USB and power plugs if you want to use external power.
Connect the board to the computer with a USB cable. The power light should illuminate.
