  Jessica Mays (Bio)


Jessica Mays is working towards her Masters in Music Composition at the Schulich School of Music. She began composing at eleven years of age and premiered her first work, Sea of Dreams at the Denver School of Arts Leaders Concert in May of 1999. She graduated from the University of Denver in 2008. While attending DU, she gained experience both as a soloist and collaborative artist. Jessica was a finalist for the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards in spring 2006 for her piano piece Four Disconcerting Monologues. She was also selected to play in the Lamont School of Music's prestigious Showcase Lamont concert in the spring of 2005. Her previous teachers include Chris Malloy, William Hill, and Alice Rybak.
